L-Type Single Cantilever

L-Type Single Cantilever Carport Kits

A single cantilever carport carries the whole roof on one row of posts set along one side, leaving the opposite side completely open. The L-Type frame uses an L-shaped aluminum upright and beam to push that overhang out over your vehicle without a second post line getting in the way. You back in, pull out, and load the trunk with nothing to walk around. It is the layout to reach for when one edge of your parking spot already runs along a wall, a fence line, or a driveway you do not want to crowd. Every kit ships pre-cut and pre-drilled from our own factory, so the parts that arrive are the parts you bolt together — no fabrication, no welding, and no surprise trips to the hardware store mid-build.

Why single cantilever

Built for one-sided clearance

Grey aluminum cantilever carport with one open side and no front posts
1

One open side, zero front posts

Posts sit on a single edge, so the drive-in side stays clear. That makes it easier to park against a wall, a fence, or the side of the house, and it keeps the open side free for doors, gear, and walking room.

Powder-coated aluminum frame

Marine-grade aluminum will not rust like steel. The powder-coat finish holds its color through sun, rain, and coastal salt air, so the frame still looks right years after install.

Pre-cut, bolt-together kit

Numbered parts, pre-drilled holes, and the hardware all come in the box. Two people and a drill get it standing — you do not need a crew or a contractor.

Single vs double cantilever

Which cantilever fits your spot

Single cantilever covers one vehicle from one post line, which is the most economical way to roof a single bay. If you park two cars side by side or want a wider clear span, compare it against the L-Type double cantilever carport kits before you decide. The table below lines up the single cantilever against a conventional post-frame carport so you can see where each one makes sense.

FAQ

Questions about L-Type single cantilever kits

What does single cantilever mean?

It means the roof is carried by one row of posts on a single side, leaving the other side fully open. The L-shaped aluminum frame extends the roof out over your vehicle so there are no posts on the drive-in edge.

How many vehicles does a single cantilever carport cover?

One vehicle per single cantilever bay. If you need to cover two cars side by side, look at the double cantilever or a wider multi-bay layout instead.

Do I need a permit for a single cantilever carport?

Permit rules depend on where you live. Check with your local building department before you install, since requirements for footings, setbacks, and wind ratings vary by area.

Is the frame aluminum or steel?

The frame is powder-coated aluminum. It does not rust the way steel can, and the finish is built to hold up against sun, rain, and salt air.

What warranty comes with the frame?

The aluminum frame carries a 10-year warranty. For full coverage details, see the product page for the kit you are considering.
